2008 Reunion in Washington, DC
John has finished arrangements with the hotel. We're holding our reunion at the Reagan Airport Marriott in Arlington VA...of course next to the Reagan Airport and also very close to the Washington Metro Station...this should allow us some flexibility to travel to locations through out the Washington DC area as well as making it easy to fly into Washington. The reunion will be from Tuesday August 5 through Saturday August 9 with checkout on Sunday August 10. We tried our best to get a decent room rate...but Washington is tough. Our rate will be $119 plus tax. The same as it was in Rhode Island. We blocked rooms off starting on Tuesday.....we have 73 rooms on Friday as well as Saturday....WE MUST SELL ALL OF OUR ROOMS OR WE WILL BE CHARGED FOR THEM.....SO WE NEED A GREAT TURNOUT STAYING AT THE HOTEL.
HIS IS ABOUT 20% MORE ROOMS THAN
WE BLOCKED IN BRANSON.
RESERVATIONS
I've already had several people call me about the hotel so here is the
number(s) for reservations. You must tell them that your with the
"USN MCB 71 SEABEE REUNION" to get the $119 rate. This
also makes sure the rooms are credited towards our block.
The Marriott 800 number is 1-800-228-9290 or the hotels direct number is
1-703-413-5500. All reservations must be made before July 11, 2008 to get
the lower rate.
OTHER INFO
We will also have a "hospitality room" again Tuesday through Saturday. We
will again need help with that .....so let us know if you can help.
There will also be a breakfast/meeting on Saturday morning as
well as the banquet on Saturday evening.
John Allsworth and Harry Cooper will be working on setting up a tour or two
for that week...hopefully to the Seabee Memorial as well as other Historical
locations in DC. That info will follow later. If you have any suggestions or
want to help plan some of the functions....contact John at
Jba843@aol.com
SEABEE MUSEUM DONATIONS
Just a reminder that we're still taking donations towards our pledge for
the Pt Huenume Museum. Contact Bob Sharp at
azsharp@qwest.net As of now
we're at about $10,500. So if you haven't gotten in your pledge Bob will
be glad to send you the info on how to make that donation. The museum is
scheduled to be finished in 2009 as of now. They are about 2 million
dollars short of their goal of $12 million. Ground breaking was held on
March 3 of this year.
